How to choose the right walking shoes
Your feet carry you thousands of steps. Give them the right shoes with our buying guide.

Why it's important
Your feet take 10,000 steps a day. That's millions of steps a year. Unsuitable footwear = pain, blisters, injuries.
Essential criteria
Cushioning
The most important. Every step has an impact. Good cushioning protects your joints (ankles, knees, hips).
Support
The shoe must hold the foot without compressing it. Not too wide, not too tight.
Flexibility
The sole should bend at the toe. Test in store: bend the shoe. If it's too resistant, walk away.
Breathability
Your feet sweat. A shoe that doesn't breathe = moisture = blisters.
